What is your acne telling you?
1 & 2: Digestive System — Eat less processed or junk food, reduce the amount of fat in your diet, step up water intake and opt for cooling things like cucumbers.
3: Liver — Cut out the alcohol, greasy food and dairy. This is the zone where food allergies also show up first, so take a look at your ingredients. Besides all this, do 30 minutes of light exercise every day and get adequate sleep so your liver can rest.
4 & 5: Kidneys — Anything around the eyes (including dark circles) point to dehydration. Drink up!
6: Heart — Check your blood pressure (mine was slightly high) and Vitamin B levels. Decrease the intake of spicy or pungent food, cut down on meat and get more fresh air. Besides this, look into ways to lower cholesterol, like replacing “bad fats” with “good fats” such as Omegas 3 and 6 found in nuts, avocados, fish and flax seed. Also, since this area is chock-full of dilated pores, check that your makeup is not past its expiry date or is skin-clogging.
7 & 8: Kidneys — Again, drink up! And cut down on aerated drinks, coffee and alcohol as these will cause further dehydration.
Zone 9 & 10: Respiratory system — Do you smoke? Have allergies? This is your problem area for both. If neither of these is the issue, don’t let your body overheat, eat more cooling foods, cut down on sugar and get more fresh air. Also keep the body more alkaline by avoiding foods that make the body acidic (meat, dairy, alcohol, caffeine, sugar) and adding more alkalizing foods like green veggies and wheatgrass juice. Another thing that most of forget – dirty cell phones and pillow cases are two of the top acne culprits and this area is what they affect the most!
Zone 11 & 12: Hormones — This is the signature zone for stress and hormonal changes. And while both are sometimes unavoidable, you can decrease their effect by getting adequate sleep, drinking enough water, eating leafy veggies and keeping skin scrupulously clean. Another interesting point: breakouts in this area indicate when you are ovulating (and on which side).
Zone 13: Stomach — Step up the fibre intake, reduce the toxin overload and drink herbal teas to help with digestion.
14: Illness — Zits here can be a sign that your body is fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Give it a break, take a yoga class, take a nap, take time to breathe deeply, drink plenty of water and know that everything always works out!
So the next time you break out or notice dark under-eye circles, look to your face map: your skin is probably trying to communicate on behalf of the internal organs. You may be interested in scheduling a Bio-Impedance Analysis with Jackie Brinkerholff at Seasons Salon and Day Spa. Bio-Impedance Analysis
What is a Bio-Impedance Analysis?
Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a method used to assess your “body composition”. In other words, it measures the amount of fat, lean body mass and fluid your body contains. In addition, a BIA test will also provide information regarding your cellular health and permeability (referring to how easy it is for nutrients to pass through the cell wall).
Why should you pay attention to your body composition?
Simple. Your body composition is directly related to your health. A normal balance of body fat is often associated with good health and long living. An excess of fat in relation to your lean body mass, can seriously increase your risks to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and more. Being aware of your body composition provides you crucial information that can help steer you towards healthy changes in your lifestyle.
In addition, I often remind my clients that are interested in "weight loss"; that they should not only pay attention to the scale but also to their body composition. says Jackie Brinkerhoff at Seasons Salona and Day Spa.

Now Offering Emotional Release Therapy
Imagine releasing the emotional trauma of every painful memory you've ever had.
Imagine releasing destructive emotional states like fear, anger, anxiety, stress, depression, and loneliness.
Imagine feeling serene and satisfied
Imagine removing the destructive emotions that are at the source of many medical conditions
Imagine all of this happening in less than an hour.
Emotional Release Therapy!
Everyone Can Benefit
We all suffer from a lifetime of emotional hurts. They have molded and shaped who we are today. Sometimes they haunt us. But now that we have learned life's lessons, we can safely release past hurts.
Time never heals emotional pain. Why? Emotional pain sticks to us like glue. No matter how hard we try to think it away or shake it off, it clings to us. Research has discovered that our emotions are not stored in our brains where we can think them away. You've already discovered this.
Our whole emotional history is stored in the energy of our heart. You experience this as a broken heart, a grieving heart, a heavy heart, a peaceful heart, a joyous heart, a loving heart.
Now you can easily release existing emotional pain forever. During Emotional Release Therapy, you release your past and present emotional pain into a hand on your sternum. You feel it and let it go forever. Inner peace and happiness replace it.
In minutes, it removes the emotional trauma of children, making it possible for them to learn up to their normal potential and to behave normally
It can restore broken relationships by removing past hurt, permitting a fresh start and love to merge once more
It can restore your physical health. New research data on the effects of the mind on the body indicates that emotional pain directly affects recovery from cancer, heart disease, colds, migraine headaches, asthma, ulcers, chronic fatigue and back pain. When you are emotionally at peace, your immune system goes into overdrive to help you get well.
Emotional Release Therapy is a new discovery. It does what has never before been possible. You may not fully understand it, but then you do not understand how a MRI works either. Both an MRI and ERT can contribute to your health. If something might help us, we usually use it.

What is the best hair color for your skin tone?
Do you know what color skin tone you have? It may be easy to tell if you’re a pale, medium or an olive skin coloring, but, do you know what undertones make up your skin tones? It’s a pretty easy guess to say . . . you don’t know. It’s not the kind of thing your eye is trained to see. But, the undertones of your skin determine what hair color work best on you. Seeing that your hair is a frame on your face shape, the hair color has an immediate effect on how you look.
A good hair color can make you look more vibrant, complimenting your skin tone, or, it can make you look sickly and washed out. It’s worth your effort to try to determine where you fall in the spectrum of warm or cool skin tones and what hair color work best for you.
If the veins on your inside wrists are blue . . . you’re most likely a “cool” skin tone. If the veins on your inside wrists are green . . . you’re most likely a “warm” skin tone.
What do cool skin tones look like?
•
True olive complexions, like most Asians. Some Latinos and Afro Americans brown with pink undertones
•
Medium with no color in the cheeks
•
Medium with faint pink cheeks
•
Medium with golden undertones
•
Pale with no color in cheeks
•
Pale with pink undertones
•
Brown or bronze when tanned golden brown when tanned
What hair color should naturally cool skin tone people avoid?
•
Avoid gold, yellow, red and bronze tones, which can make you sallow and drawn.
What hair color will complement a cool skin tone?
•Cool reds, as in burgundy or bordeaux
•Intense browns with a warm base, like red or blonde to the brown.
•High light with cool shades like, wheat, honey or taupe or a cool ash brown.
What do warm skin tones look like?
•
Some Latinos and African-Americans brown with golden undertones
•
Pale with peach or gold undertones
•
Golden brown when tanned
What hair color should naturally warm skin toned people avoid?
•
Naturally warm people should avoid blue, violet, white and jet-black hair. These hair colors next to your skin can make you look washed out.
What colors will most complement warm skin tones?
•
The best shades for you, depending on the depth of the colors in your undertones are;
•
Deep rich browns like, chocolate, chestnut or auburns as a base.
•
High light with warm golds and reds or copper.

Why Pole Fitness Is The Best Workout
Each time you put effort into pole dancing, you are almost instantly rewarded. At the start of a class you can't do a fireman spin. One hour later, you can.
Unlike many forms of exercise in which you create generic or distant goals, such as to win a tournament or to run for half an hour, in pole there's always a new move that's just within reach.
Tangible Goals Motivate You
Fact: Concrete, achievable goals, with highly desirable rewards, increase motivation. Pole dancing provides you with an endless supply of attainable goals. To climb to the top of the pole. To do a hands-free outside leg hang. To string 5 moves together without stopping.
And each time you achieve a pole goal, you have something real to show for your hard work. It could be a new trick, or an impressive routine that you might want to show it to your partner, your pole class, or simply your mirror. Whatever it is, having attained something that you can see and share is a very powerful incentive.
It Combines SO Many Types of Exercise
A pole class typically involves some spins, some climbs, some dance moves and sometimes floor work as well. This combination of intensity levels means pole dancing can be classed as an interval workout.
Interval training is defined as a period of intensely difficult exercise maneuvers followed by period of rest. Interval training is acknowledged to be one of the best ways to burn fat and drastically improve your cardiovascular fitness.
Pole dancing is both an isometric and isotonic workout rolled into one!
Isotonic contractions are exercise movements in which opposing muscles (such as biceps and triceps) contract throughout a controlled movement. For example: lifting weights or doing pushups, or pulling yourself up into a pole spin.
Isometric contractions are exercise movements in which your muscles push against a solid object, while a static position is held, and the angle of the joint does not change. For example, holding the prone bridge (aka plank) position, or any aerial pose on the pole.
It's Fun & Exciting!
Yes it's TRUE! Pole dancing is so much fun that you truly want to turn up to class and exercise! This is perhaps one of the biggest reasons women flock to pole as a form of fitness, and also the reason why so many stick to it!
It's Addictive!
Because pole dancing is so enjoyable and rewarding, it quickly becomes an addiction! Your self-esteem sky-rockets, you feel great, you look great, and the sweet taste of victory quickly becomes addictive.
Each time you accomplish a move, you are inspired to do better, to push harder, to achieve more tricks. It's like a little dangling carrot in front of your nose and it works wonders for motivation. This is fantastic, because it means you WANT to work out!
You Work Your WHOLE Body
Pole dancing is fantastic for your thighs and your butt. It's amazing for your arms, your back and your shoulders. It will shape your legs, tone your stomach and will work out all those flabby areas that are hard to target at the gym. Pole dancing even works out the little muscles too, like the ones in your ankles and wrists.
There's No Such Thing as Athlete's Plateau
Because pole classes can be different every week, you're constantly pushed out of your comfort zone which brings faster results. It's impossible to work out only one muscle group during pole, so you'll be using your muscles in different ways and in a different order with each routine you do.
This helps you avoid the dreaded athlete's plateau. Pole dancing is mostly strength based training but the dance and movement side of things allows for cardio too.
There's Something for Everyone
This isn't a sport that you need to start at 5 years old, or an industry in which you're past your peak at 30. Pole dancing is so delightfully versatile that it's for every man and woman, regardless of shape, size, background or age. In fact, many international pole dance champions were beginners as adults!
Such versatility allows for all kinds of people, with a variety of diverse passions and backgrounds, to enjoy something different through pole dance. There are those who do it because they want to feel sexy again, find their inner goddess or build their self esteem. There are those who are driven to perform impressive circus-style tricks, and there are those who prefer to skip the dance part and simply want a grueling workout.
It's Liberating
There's something about holding your own weight, while you fly around a pole, that makes you feel fantastic. The word empowerment is thrown around a lot in pole dancing circles, and it's something that a lot of people don't believe...until they feel it for themselves.
It's Versatile and Adaptable
A pole is quite literally a piece of equipment. It is an apparatus that can be used in a multitude of ways.
Many existing exercise movements (for example squats, push ups, chins, crunches) are easily transferable to pole, and many movements from other dance styles (ballet, hip hop, salsa, break dance, belly dance, just to name a few) can be adapted to pole too!
